Haute Découpe exhibition in Malakoff in February 2025

3 venues, 3 exhibitions to showcase laser cutting of metal as a contemporary decorative art form.

Individuals and professionals in the fields of decoration and architecture,

discover a glimpse of the aesthetic, artistic and technical potential offered by metal laser cutting. Several of my works, products, prototypes, projects and services will be exhibited in 3 locations in close proximity to each other in Malakoff.

- Œuvres’ at Atelier Kraft, 37 rue Gabriel Crié, from 01 to 09/02/2025.

- Explorations’ at the Tréso, 8 av du Président Wilson, from 01 to 28/02/2025.

- In Situ’ at the Pablo Neruda multimedia library during opening hours.

Works at Atelier Kraft: top-of-the-range laser cutting

Decorative panels, lighting, furniture, patterns in painted or weathered steel, brushed stainless steel... Abstract, figurative, contemporary or historically inspired...

Through these very different works, I'd like to introduce you to the Haute découpe service offered by Shohan-design in partnership with my manufacturer BPLAN. This service is characterised by :

- Extensive research in terms of aesthetic, technical and ergonomic adaptation.

- Precise, high-quality manufacturing carried out by BPLAN.

- The possibility of exceptional handcrafted finishes.

- Creations potentially made just for you.

For example, you can see :

Tiger in the bamboo, an Asian art theme reinterpreted as a contemporary decorative panel.

This 1m 80 picture is made in two parts, a patinated steel back and a white front. Its aim is to show both the aesthetic research carried out and the possibilities of contrasting finishes.

Here are two more personal projects, with more modern designs, which will eventually be presented ‘in real life’. They are the precursors of a collection of decorative accessories and furniture that I hope to develop. There will also be motifs for architectural use, as well as the MLK motif I created for the Malakoff multimedia library, which I'm using on other objects.

Explorations at La Tréso: laser cutting on the loose

La Tréso  is one of Malakoff's unmissable third-party venues. As well as being a warm and friendly place where you can eat well, it's also a Fab-lab. I regularly come here to try things out and make wooden prototypes, using the laser cutter in particular.

For February 2025, I'm occupying the grand staircase with more whimsical, pop-art and unbridled works. As my scenography hasn't yet been finalised, I can't yet tell you everything there will be. There will at least be one big silhouette. I'd also like to show you some of my first pieces to give you a flavour of my explorations.

In Situ at the Pablo Neruda multimedia library: laser cutting in use.

There will be no new works at the media library, just those I have already produced at their request. Each of them will be accompanied by a small explanatory panel explaining how they came about. The idea is to present my creations in the context and for the purpose for which they were commissioned. Among them, you will discover

Acroix coat racks made in 2013

On the ground floor, in the children's section, you can see my very first ‘made-to-measure’ order, created for a customer. A client in fact, the director at the time (to whom I'd like to express my warmest thanks) who, having just seen my Bon appétit trivet, asked me to design the coat racks they needed after the building had been refurbished.

MLK, a wall-mounted display unit, a work of graphic art.

On the 1st floor, at the back of the adult section, you can see my first work of art (rather than a decorative object). I had a pillar, 9 books to display, a budget and an aesthetic carte blanche. Somewhere between a printed circuit board and a blob-like organism, 9 unique protean cut-outs in brushed stainless steel now adorn the wall and display the books.

And for those of you who would have liked to come and see this exhibition but who can't make it, you should know that some of these creations and the work of Haute Découpe will soon be presented on the Shohan-design website.
