Vinyl enthusiast, this is a sultry jazz singer to wedge your records or your fine books in your bookcase
All fans of jazz and film noir have in mind black and white images of jazz clubs. Smoky and poorly lit rooms where a sensual singer performs, surrounded by gangly musicians. Bars where began Aretha Franklin, Nina Simone and many others now forgotten.
As with the detective stories he doesn't read, our designer was inspired by jazz, a music he doesn't listen to. It was the atmosphere described in James Ellroy's White Jazz or drawn in Blacksad by Juanjo Guarnido that prompted him. He imagined and drawn his singer. The one he would have liked to see on the stage of a small bar in New Orleans or New York in the 1940s and 1950s. It lacked a group to accompany her, in the background, in the clouds of smoke. She is now surrounded by a trumpeter, a saxophonist and a pianist.
This large format bookend is made of laser cut metal. It is designed solid and practical. Without any fixing required, it will effectively wedge your records and books at the end of the shelving.
On your bookcase, this bookend will bring a presence and an original atmosphere to your decoration. Especially if our singer is accompanied by one or more members of her group.
