Z-Eggs luxury version: an elegant blown glass chandelier made to order up to 40cm in diameter.
Indicative price: €490 and €750 depending on size.
The Z-Eggs suspension was created in blown glass for the crêperie Auguste near Beaubourg in Paris. The idea was to make an upside-down boiled egg whose bulb would make the egg yolk. About ten with a diameter of 13cm were made of blown glass. The result is amazing: it's pretty, contemporary and rather funny while being quite elegant.
The blown glass shells are cold machined by hand. The cut simulating the breaks is difficult to achieve. There is therefore breakage and a consequent manufacturing cost. Except for the king size models, the designer of Shohan-design wanted to make this rather humorous luminaire a lamp for the general public at a low price. So he looked for an alternative to glass. Rather than making plastic or resin, he opted for the ostrich egg. It is of natural origin, solid, light and at an affordable price!
The eggs used come from ostrich farms located in France. Like any product of animal or vegetable origin, they are not uniform. The diameter and texture may vary from egg to egg. The artisanal cutting carried out in our workshop in Malakoff further accentuates their unique appearance.
